I began this blog to document my POTD (picture of the day) for our Project Life album in 2010. In Sept. 2011 I had our first baby and I plan for her to have the most documented life possible. I have continued each year with Project Life, but also have expanded my blog to include layouts, card creations, and even cooking recipes. My little word to focus on for 2014 is "family" and I plan to make them my priority. I would love to have you join me on our journey! Thank you for visiting!
Happy Sunday! I am definitely not ready to start a new week. I had a wonderful weekend with my girlies at Scrap N Paradise weekend retreat in Oklahoma. Daddy was sweet enough to watch Maddie for the entire weekend so I could get away. It was much needed. I have been working so much that I hadn't scrapbooked at all this entire year! That is unheard of for me. I did manage to finish 6 layouts the weekend before I left and finished another 25 this weekend. That is a major record for me. I will admit that most of them are kits.
What a wonderful way to spend the weekend. Here are my layouts:
I can't wait to go again! LOL. Have a fabulous week!
I hope you had a fun and safe 4th! After the fireworks, parades, BBQ's, and pool/sun fun, I managed to finish a layout. Rather boring - that's what happens when you don't scrap for 6 months; but it is done so I am happy.
This layout is from last year at the Dallas Aquarium. Maddie loved the sharks and penguins. I played along with Let's Scrap Challenge #188, use a Let's Scrap sketch and get inky. I used sketch 2-5-14 and inked the background with navy spray and a Tim Holtz stencil. It made a huge mess and I even got it on my photos - whoops. Here is the sketch:
I also played along with Paper Issues - In the Navy. I used photos from our day at the Aquarium which had lots of navy. Then I added navy card stock and navy brads. I even journaled with a navy pen.
Finally, I played along with the Southern Girls Challenge - You Spin Me Round Baby...Right Round. This challenge is to use circles and things that are round. I used patterned paper with circles, round navy embellishments cut out of embossed cardstock with a round embossing pattern, and lots of round brads.
Materials: paper - Bazzill & WeRMemoryKeepers; ink - Mr. Huey's; stencil - Tim Holtz; die-cut flamingo - Memories of Yesterdays; circle cutter - Creative Memories; brads - unknown.
Hello blogging friends! I have been absent for months, I know. I have not scrapped a single page this year - until today. We have had a frantically busy first half of the year and I have been working waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much. Here is a layout from a zoo trip last year to the Fort Worth Zoo. Maddie loves the zoo and we go a LOT!
I played along with Let's Scrap Sketch for this week 7-2-14. Here is the sketch:
I also played along with Lasting Memories #193 "Go Wild with Animal Layout". I definitely used animals on my layout - in both the photos and the animal embellishments. Materials: paper - Bazzill; stickers - WeRMemoryKeepers; washi tape - CTMH & unknown; letter stickers JoAnn Craft Essentials; and journaling block - Making Memories. Thanks for visiting! Hopefully, I will be posting again soon!
Hello my scrappy friends! I was all set for a beautiful 73 degree day, that's what I was promised after all; but it barely topped the 60 degree mark and was cloudy all day. This simple little layout took me most of the day to complete. I just wasn't feeling that scrappy mood, but also couldn't just give up and walk away.
For this layout I used this weeks sketch from Let's Scrap 1-29-14:
I also played on the "Love is in the Air" theme to meet the Scrapping Everyday Miracles Feb. challenge #1. Love was definitely in the air on this layout. I used lots of hearts, pink, and Love U titles. Maddie is definitely my little miracle and I thank the Lord everyday that I am blessed to have her. I used the center column in the Scrappy Friends - Rochelle's Tic Tac Toe challenge. I used banner hearts, bling and wood hearts, and cork butterflies.
For the right side, I played along with Sketches4All - Cheryl's challenge group for Feburary - to use at least one arrow. I used bling arrows and a large black arrow brad. Materials - paper - MME; journaling blocks - MME; brad - unknown; bling - Queen&Co, TLC, and Prima; stamps - CTMH; ink - CTMH; banner - BG; cork shape - LYB; sticker - MME. Thanks for visiting!
Yippee it's the weekend! It was a long week and I am very much looking forward to the weekend. I definitely didn't make 31 layouts in the January LOAD (Lay Out A Day) challenge over at Let's Scrap, but I did complete 23, way more than I would in a typical month. I finished one final layout this evening, #23.
I also played along with My Scraps & More - Throwback Thursday - 1-9-14. This challenge was to use at least a year old. This is a photo from May 2012. Materials used: paper - MME, Bo Bunny, and October Afternoon; rub-ons - Karen Foster; enamel dots - MME; twine - The Twinery; washi tape - MME; Thickers - Amy Tangerine; stamp - CTMH; ink - CTMH. Thanks for visiting!
Hello my scrappy friends! This is the other side to my "welcome home" layout. Photos of our new home (circa May 2012). This is LOAD (Lay Out A Day) #22 over at Let's Scrap.
For this layout I played along with Challenge #6 over at 1-2-3 Get Scrappy! Here is the fun challenge board:
I used the center column - a key, a blue journaling block and blue washi tape, and a 5x7 photo of our new home. I used my large photo as a pocket for my journaling block. Here is photo of the blue journaling block/tag removed from the pocket:
Happy Sunday! After church, lunch, and shopping for new clothes for Maddie; I finally have a second to post the layout I finished last night (yes, it's nap time...LOL). This is a layout of Maddie the first time we entered our NEW house in May of 2012. She looked so small in our big living room and I was instantly struck by future visions of her running and playing in our new home. This layout is to document that moment. It is LOAD (Lay Out A Day) #21 over at Let's Scrap.
For this layout I played along with the sketch from the January C'est Magnifique sketch. The sketch instantly reminded me of a homey, warmth feel and I that was just what I wanted my page to be.
I also played along with Scrap Africa Challenge #25, use at least one recycled item. I am a sucker for all the fabulous packaging that is accompanying the wonderful trinkets of scrapbooking! I used the cardboard packaging from a Bo Bunny layered chipboard and misted/inked it to be the background behind my keys. I also used both the jute and the tag from a washi tape I had. I flipped the "paper tape" tag inside out, misted it, drug paper towels across the ink and used it for my key tag at the top.
A similar challenge over at LESSology - challenge 32 was to upcycle at least one item and incorporate a key. I have had these keys forever and was waiting for just the right page to use them. What could be more perfect than a layout of a new HOME?
One more layout to share. This one is Maddie's school photo from this year. Isn't she cute? I am playing along with Let's Scrap LOAD (Lay Out A Day) and this is #20. Still behind, but catching up....I think.
I also played along with My Scraps & More - Free for All Friday 1-24-14. This challenge is to scrap photos that are school related. I used Maddie's school photo from this year. Finally, I played along with Paper Issues - You are Just my Type challenge. I like to mix fonts on my pages and ampersands are the latest hot trend. I added both to my layout. Materials Used: paper - MME; stickers - MME; chipboard - MME; journaling block - MME; brads - MME; stickers - MME; letter chpboard - Heidi Swapp; Quickutz; ink - CTMH; sticker dots - MME. Thanks for visiting!
