Project Life - Week 16

Welcome to Project Life 2013! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 1 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital kit on shutterfly (hopefully Olive once it has been released), find more info at http://www.beckyhiggins.com/blog. This digital version uses Shutterfly and is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

Tuesday - Miriam came to visit. We haven't seen her since Thanksgiving, so it was time to exchange Christmas presents! Maddie was very excited to help Aunt Miri open her package. We talked for hours, it was so good to see her and catch up! Every night when I put Maddie to bed, we have a routine. We change her into her jam-jam's, brush her teeth, read her books, put her into her crib and sing songs - right now it is "itsy bitsy spider" aka "ibby" and "Jesus love the little children" aka "jee jee". Right now she loves the "Peek-A-Boo" books and Curious George or A Wocket in my Pocket.

Wednesday - Our large Iris is blooming even more! So gorgeous.

Thursday - Our butterfly/Hummingbird bush is starting to bloom. Juan was not happy with me when I pruned it a couple of months ago because her said it wouldn't bloom if we cut it. Thankfully he was quite wrong and it is blooming beautifully. Also our broccoli and blackberry bush are starting to bloom!

Friday - Juan fixed the little bird house that the dogs destroyed and hung it in our front tree today. Maddie was right there on the ladder to "help". She is so loving and gives everyone kisses all the time. Today I was given a kiss, right from the top of the ladder. Then Daddy threw Maddie over his shoulder and took off running with her. She was screaming and laughing concurrently.

Saturday - Nana came over to visit today and played horsie with Maddie. They also painted and read quite a few books. It gave me a chance to get a few things made for Sarah's shower tomorrow.

Sunday - Today Abby, Janet, Danna and I threw Sarah a baby shower. I hosted at our house. Sarah's baby room has a decal of forest creatures so we threw her a "Camp Baby Kuchera" shower. There were lots of camping signs and we decorated with stuffed critters, bird houses, and mason jars with baby's breath. I made a camping banner and a mini to accompany it. I also wrapped water bottles with labels and tied twine around them. There were name tags and lots of camping critter printables for the table decorations. For food we had chicken salad sandwiches, a chocolate fountain with graham crackers, fruit and marshmallows, ants on a log, trail mix, punch, lemonade, and of course a cake (bundt cake). We also hung lots of clothes line around the house and strung baby boy clothes for the Mommy to Be to take home. The favors were animal crackers in a picnic basket. It all turned out great and we had 12 guest in total. Congratulations Sarah!

Monday - Today I purged all of Maddie's toys and these are the ones we are giving to Goodwill. She has either outgrown or doesn't play with these anymore. Also today I learned Maddie knows all but 5 of her alphabet letters. She has a wooden alphabet puzzle and I handed her a puzzle piece and said, "what letter is this?" She said "O" and then put the letter in the puzzle. I handed her another piece and said, "what letter is this?" She said "T" and then put the letter in the puzzle. I was stunned when she proceeded to tell me every letter of the alphabet except for 5. She got stuck on F, G, X, W, and H. She is brilliant! :)

Thanks for visiting!

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

Wednesday - Spring is here - Photo by Juan.

Thursday - Juan took Maddie to the Ft. Worth Japanese Gardens today. I think they had a good time!

Friday - Juan FINALLY got a job after 8 months of being unemployed! He starts at GSR on Monday so  to celebrate, I took today off and we went to Ennis to see the bluebonnets. The seem to be blooming late this year, so there wasn't as many as we had hoped, but Maddie still liked romping through them. The pics didn't turn out great as the sun was too high, but at least we got a few.

Saturday - We had a bar-b-que today and The Wideman's joined us. Henry and Maddie had a blast on the slide. Henry is quite the daredevil and even went down head first! It was a great afternoon to spend with our neighbors. Here is a video of Maddie finally going down the slide on her own.

Sunday - I've been working 15 hour days for weeks now. This evening I couldn't keep my eyes open and fell asleep on the couch while Maddie was watching "Go Go Go" aka Lazy Town. Yes she was naked. I'm not sure why and I was too exhausted to care. Maddie jumped on top of me to wake me up and then gave me a big hug. She is so adorable.

Monday - Today Maddie figured out how to climb the rock wall on her swing set. When she couldn't quite get the footing right, she used her arms to pull herself up to the next step. She is amazingly strong! Here is a video of her with her sharks.

Project Life - Week 14

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

Tuesday - Daddy and Maddie went to the Butterfly Farm today and then walked around Fair Park. Daddy bought Maddie this backpack so she couldn't run away from him. I'm not quite sure how well it worked.

Thursday - I finally finished Sarah's baby shower invitations.  Now to get them in the mail....

Friday - We took Maddie to the playground at Merriman Park Elementary school. We tried to get her to slide down the slides, but she kept saying, "no, no, no". Then I put her on my lap and slid down the big circular slide, but we really didn't fit. We headed over to yet another set of playground equipment and for some reason she slide down that circular slide by herself. I caught her high and made sure she slowed down. Then she ran up and continued to slide down it 4 more times alone. She also had a blast chasing the birds. She really thought she could catch one!

Saturday - We had a very busy day today. We started out at the Dallas Zoo where Maddie fed the Giraffe's and rode on the Carosel although she was not happy about it. Then we had a play date at Mrs. Abby's with Ellie, Alice, Kaitlyn and Ryan. There was a lot of "roaring" going on. Then we came home and Juan BBq'd for us, Abuelito, Abuelita, Adam and Adam's friend Lisa. Maddie was all excited to slide down our slide by herself. She did great. I guess her sliding down the big slide yesterday gave her the confidence to try our slide. She continued to climb up and slide down the slide over and over. Abuelita and Abuelito just returned from 2 weeks in Mexico and brought Maddie a broom. She rode it around the yard like a horsie.

Sunday -  Today we moved Maddie out of her highchair and into a big girl booster seat. She did great on it and hasn't fallen out of it at all. Maddie said her first two word sentence today, "Super Baby". Maddie and I went out front to play while Juan walked the dogs and we went over to talk to Le Anne and Charlie next door. Charlie gave Maddie a flower and then the kiddos chased Juan and the dogs into the backyard. Charlie and Maddie started playing on the swingset and Juan called Maddie "Super Baby" while she was climbing the stairs to the slide. She immediately repeated it.
