Project Life - Week 25

Welcome to Project Life 2015! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 3 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins.

I am using a digital kit on Shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly - Project Life Turquoise Edition HERE and my 2013 album using the Shutterfly - Project Life Childhood - Mayfield Edition HERE I will hopefully be posting my 2014 pages soon.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Thursday - Aunt Shanny arrived today! Yeah, Maddie was as excited as Mama.

Friday - Maddie had Tiny Paleontologist camp all day everyday this week at the Dallas Zoo. She LOVED it! My besties came into town today to join me at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington! We dropped Maddie off at camp and Daddy picked her up on the train this afternoon. Vanessa joined Angie, Shannon and I at the convention and we had a FABULOUS day! We did a couple Make-N-Takes and even met Tim Holtz. We bought his aprons and had him sign them. Shannon was very excited to get autographs and even got Lisa Bearnson's as well. Of course we also bought a ton of stuff, including lots of page kits and card kits. That seems to be all I have time for lately, LOL! Fun, fun day with my girlies!

Saturday - Today was Maddie's first day of ballet. It went ok. She really didn't do well listening and was sort of running all over the room. Mrs. Rachel had to stop class multiple times to get Maddie to join the class and I finally pulled her out to talk to her. She definitely liked it, but was pretty disruptive to the rest of the class. This afternoon while Shannon, Angie and I scrapped, Maddie played with my Great Grandma's buttons. She loved trying to thread the needle and thread through the button holes. She is obsessed with "reuse & recycle" and constantly pulls out things from the recycle bin to make "art crafts".  We have finally got her to stop pulling out of the "trash" and only pull out of the "recycle" bin. The shirt she is wearing is a plastic bag we got that she cut into a shirt. She is definitely creative for a 3 year old!

Sunday - Today is Father's Day. Maddie helped me wrap everything and even made him a card out of "recycled" items - see the bottle cap, and peanut shells? I made Daddy a mouse pad with Maddie's picture on it and we got him a Puma shirt and some BBQ tools. The best gift was 3 tickets to see Messi play in the Argentina vs. Mexico game that is coming to Dallas in September. I got us really great seats. I was so excited that I couldn't even contain the surprise and told him about two weeks ago. He didn't even know they were coming. I bought them as part of a special preview sale. Happy Father's Day Juan! You are a terrific Daddy!

Monday - Maddie started swimming lessons today with Mrs. Jordan. There were four students in the class with Mrs. Jordan and one other instructor. They didn't let the parents stay to watch. Maddie loves her new goggles and loves the water, but was leary about swimming lessons this week as she didn't want to go under the water. I got to watch the last 5 minutes of class and she was doing ok, but was obviously hanging on to Mrs. Jordan for dear life.

Tuesday - At the end of swimming class today Mrs. Jordan was working with another student and Maddie was supposed to be sitting on the step, but was wandering around in the pool doing her own thing. I watched her get deeper and deeper - while the 2nd instructor didn't see her. Then I saw her go under and bob above the water hollering "mama, mama" while sinking again. I hollered and took off running toward the water - ready to dive in. Finally the 2nd instructor saw her and pulled her to safety. This was really my worst fear (and why I didn't sign her up for Mrs. Jordan's class last summer - the rule about parents leaving) as Maddie is so stubborn and doesn't listen well sometimes. I'm sure I was overreacting, but it really scared me. Afterwards, Mrs. Jordan told me that she is really ready to swim, but she just isn't listening to the instructions and could I attend class with her tomorrow and sit on the edge to help "parent" her. I was so thankful to hear that and agreed quickly.

Wednesday - Today Maddie did really well at her swimming lessons. I think it helped that I was there and telling her to follow the lessons and listen to the instructors. She is going under better, although they still have to pretty much stop and insist she go under. Mrs. Jordan told me to bring something tomorrow as a goal to swim towards.

Thanks for visiting!
